Priyanka Gandhi visits polling booth in Wayanad
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress candidate for the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll, voiced her confidence in winning on Wednesday and expressed hope that the people would allow her to become their representative. She also visited a polling station in Wayanad where voting is ongoing. She stated, 'I hope the people of Wayanad will give me the opportunity to reciprocate their love and affection by working for them and being their representative. I encourage everyone to exercise their democratic right and vote.'
Priyanka calls for voting in X post
Priyanka is running for this seat against BJP's Navya Haridas and Left Democratic Front (LDF)'s Satyan Mokeri. Today, the Congress candidate encouraged voters to turn out in large numbers and exercise their rights. In a post on X, Priyanka Gandhi wrote, "My dear brothers and sisters, please vote today, this is your day, this is the day for you to make your choices and exercise the greatest power given to you by our Constitution. Let's build a better future together!"
Bypolls to 31 Assembly seats in 10 states as well as Wayanad
By-elections are currently taking place in 31 assembly constituencies across 10 states, including the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress general secretary, is making her electoral debut from Wayanad, a seat previously won by her brother Rahul Gandhi. She is competing against Satyan Mokeri of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and Navya Haridas of the BJP in the by-election. Additionally, polling is being conducted in the Chellakara Assembly constituency in Thrissur district on Wednesday. The by-elections on Wednesday will also cover seven seats in Rajasthan, six in West Bengal, and five in Assam. In West Bengal, the by-elections will be held for the Naihati, Haroa, Medinipur, Taldangra, Sitai, and Madarihat Assembly seats. In Assam, voting will take place in the Samaguri, Behali, Bongaigaon, Sidli, and Dholai constituencies. The first phase of Assembly elections is also underway in Jharkhand, with vote counting scheduled for November 23.
