Uttar Pradesh: 'Deepotsav-2024' was celebrated with grandeur on Wednesday evening in Ayodhya, a special occasion for thousands of people gathered on the banks of the Saryu river.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led the celebration, he pulled the chariot of artists depicting Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman, symbolizing Lord Ram's return to Ayodhya.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat along with Deputy Chief Ministers Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya were also present during the celebration. He welcomed the artists by applying tilak on their foreheads. Apart from this, floral tributes were showered on the artists playing the role of Lord Rama, Lakshman and Sita.
A large number of people gathered on the banks of Saryu river for the grand Deepotsav celebrations, where ghats were illuminated with 25 lakh diyas. Speaking about Deepotsav, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said that this has caused a wave of happiness among the devotees of Lord Ram. "This is the first Deepotsav after the Pran Pratishtha programme of Lord Ram. There is a wave of happiness among the devotees. A world record is going to be made once again. Around 25 lakh diyas were placed and lit on the banks of river Saryu, creating an enchanting sight, symbolising the triumph of light over darkness and promoting the spirit of unity. This year's Deepotsav featured 18 vibrant tableaux depicting important moments in the life of Lord Rama prepared by the state's information and tourism departments.
Deepotsav, a five-day festival, commemorates the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. The event showcases the cultural and spiritual significance of Ayodhya, which attracts millions of devotees and tourists.
