Banda Singh Bahadur, whose childhood name was Laxman Das, was born in 1670 AD in Rajouri, Poonch village of Kashmir. Since childhood, he knew Persian, Sanskrit, Punjabi, etc. languages and was also adept in the art of war. One day, during hunting, his arrow hit a pregnant deer and she and her unborn child died in agony. Seeing her dead, he became a recluse and left everything and headed towards the forest. After coming in contact with Sadhu Janaki Das, he changed his name to Madhavdas. After some time, he met Guru Gobind Singh Ji at a place near Hazur Sahib and that meeting changed his life and he became Guru Ji's Banda. He broke the centuries-old myth of Mughal power not being defeated and Indians not being able to defeat them. Pleased with his bravery, Guru Ji gave Banda Singh the title of Bahadur and since then he was addressed as Banda Singh Bahadur.
History is witness that Banda Singh Bahadur defeated the Mughals and also took revenge of Guru Sahib's Sahibzadas from the Mughals, but in the end the Mughals imprisoned him and forced him to accept Islam by giving him many troubles at a place in front of Qutub Minar, but when he did not agree, the heart of his 6-year-old son Ajay Singh was taken out and put in Banda Singh Bahadur's mouth. This is probably the only such incident on earth. If anyone's child gets even a little hurt, we get scared, but blessed is Baba Banda Singh Bahadur who endured every pain, but did not give up, ultimately he was martyred. But today it is sad when some agencies and bureaucrats running the government with anti-Sikh thinking are trying to prove that he was not a Sikh by calling him Banda Vairagi. But they should understand that as long as he was a Vairagi, he did not have bravery. He got strength after drinking Amrit, so while addressing him, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur should be used and not Vairagi.
Children learnt Gurbani Paath in 40 days
Today, such a time has come that people consider it an insult to talk in their mother tongue. In 99 percent of Sikh homes, the medium of conversation has become English or Hindi. To provide better education to children, everyone wants their children to study in convent schools so that they can make their future better in future, but perhaps they forget that in convent schools, children will learn English but they will not get the knowledge of their mother tongue and when children do not learn their mother tongue, i.e. Gurmukhi, then the question of doing Paath does not arise. Due to this, today the youth is abandoning Sikhism. Earlier, even if children did not learn their mother tongue in schools, but due to the growing family, grandparents used to give information about their language and glorious heritage to the children, now even that is gone.
Parents are forced to lead a hectic life to make the future of their children bright, they do not have time to give religious education to their children. In such a situation, Gurmat Camp is the only option left where children can learn Gurmukhi, Sikh history, Kirtan etc. but even there very few parents send their children. This time around 230 Gurmat Camps were organized by the Dharm Prachar Committee of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee for children during summer vacations. Along with this, a special camp was organized in the same Gurdwara Sahib in Anupshahr, UP where the Anand Karaj of Guru Hariray Sahib took place. Children were kept there for 40 days and were woken up at Amritvele. After bathing, classes were taken for Paath, Kirtan and Punjabi Sikhlai. The result of which was that today those children who had no knowledge of Gurmukhi at all, did not even know Uda-Aida, within just 40 days, not only learned Gurmukhi but also started doing Paath and Kirtan. Many of these children were of very young age. They were also duly given mementoes and certificates by the Delhi Committee.
The patriotism of Sikhs is unquestionable
History is a witness to the fact that Sikhs are a martial community who have sacrificed their lives from the time of independence till today whenever the country needed them. Sikhs may be 2 percent in this country but their sacrifices have been more than 85 percent, even the British government used to bow down in front of the bravery of the Sikhs. The battle of Saragarhi is still remembered when only a few Sikh soldiers fearlessly faced thousands of enemy soldiers. Even today, Sikh soldiers are deployed on the borders of the country to protect the country. Since independence, the young Sikhs of Punjab either do farming or feel proud to join the army. However, due to the policies made by the governments in the past, the recruitment of Sikhs in the army has reduced because according to the government policy, recruitment started being done on the basis of the number of states in which more soldiers started coming from other states than from Punjab. Even today, there are many Sikh families whose not only boys but also girls are in the army. Recently when Lieutenant General D.P. Singh was promoted, his medal was given to him by his two daughters who were posted as Majors in the Army. It must have been a proud moment for a father that his daughters are also ready to protect the country by following in his footsteps. But it is sad when people like Gurpatwant Singh Pannu sitting abroad, who are almost negligible, who are not even in Sikh form but call themselves Sikhs and talk about Khalistan. They carry out terrorist activities at the behest of Pakistan. Because of them, the entire Sikh community starts getting defamed.
Sikhs in support of Diljit
Diljit is under fire for featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in 'Sardar Ji 3'. Numerous Indian celebrities, musicians, and film groups have voiced their opposition. However, the decision to cast the actress likely came from the film's producer, not Diljit. Despite his controversial remarks about India following the Pahalgam incident warranting criticism, labeling Diljit as a traitor or using offensive language against him is unwarranted. Diljit has consistently made his nation and community proud. If an Indian's image graces the cover of the world's priciest magazine today, it is Diljit Dosan. Some are even suggesting the revocation of his citizenship, which is unjust. Sikh leaders are now rallying behind Diljit.
Delhi Gurudwara Committee President Harmeet Singh Kalka, General Secretary Jagdeep Singh Kahlon, Akali Dal leader Paramjit Singh Sarna, Manjit Singh GK, BJP leader RP Singh, Takht Patna Committee spokesperson Harpal Singh Johal, Vice President Gurvinder Singh and many other leaders are seen supporting Diljit and they should support him because Diljit has no role in all these incidents, he is being defamed without any reason. In fact, it also encompasses those vocalists whose fame was diminishing as Diljit achieved significant success.
